Koinonia Needs Your Help

We were so blessed by all of you who came out last Tuesday night and your interest in the Love Links groups, but we need your help.

Love Links

There’s a few groups with ladies interested in joining, but don’t have a leader. Maybe you’re that leader?

We’re looking for a few ladies to lead or co-lead the service, cooking, and writers group.

We are also in the beginning stages of developing mentoring relationships between the women of Boyce and Southern. If you’re interested, either as a mentor or being mentee, please let us know.

Would you consider it, pray about it, and let us know?

We want to serve you and continue to build the fellowship of women at Boyce and Southern, but we can’t do it without your help!

Koinonia Team

We would also love for you to join us in the behind-the-scenes operation of Koinonia.

We are in need of help with publicity and hospitality. If you’d like more information before, please don’t hesitate to ask.

If you’re feeling that little tug to help with either of these or if you have a question, please fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you!

(And for those of you who couldn’t make it last Tuesday, we hope that you’ll get involved with a group and we look forward to meeting you soon!)

Koinonia’s Inaugural Event

Journey of a Woman:

Conversations with Mrs. Mohler

If you happened by Heritage Hall Tuesday evening, you might have been surprised by the gathering of women. Every table was full and a row of chairs was added lining the back wall for Koinonia’s inaugural event.

We were thrilled to see so many women come out and join us!

The night started off with Shelby Vafinis, the board president, sharing the vision for Koinonia. It exists to connect the women of the Southern community in hopes of building lifelong relationships and is open to all women–students, student wives, faculty, faculty wives, and staff. We hope that Tuesday was just the first step in building those relationships.

Kelli Martin, the small group committee chair, shared a few different ways you can get involved with Koinonia. There’s a variety of groups meeting each month for coffee or brunch, to exercise, weekly to study the Bible, book club, or gather in prayer and serve others around Louisville. You are sure to find a group that will provide you with an opportunity to connect, mentor, and grow alongside.

The highlight of the evening was Mrs. Mohler sharing her testimony. She encouraged us that “no one ever has a boring testimony.” Mrs. Mohler lit up the stage as she shared with us the journey that the Lord is guiding her through.

Mrs. Mohler shared how she came to know the Lord as a young girl. Watching Mrs. Mohler share about her conversion was beautiful, her passion and devotion to the Lord was clear for all in the room. She went on to talk about the home she grew up in, and even shared about her love for American cars (since she hails from near the Motor City).

She went on to share, in a question/answer form (with herself, which was quite humorous), how she met Dr. Mohler, they married, their journey to seminary, and how he came to be president at Southern. The Mohler’s journey was not without much hardship, but the Lord was faithful throughout the hard seasons.

Towards the end of her talk, Mrs. Mohler begins to speak on a more personal level about marriage, parenting, and what life in an empty nest is like. She encouraged the ladies in attendance to be faithful in the callings that God has placed in our lives. We must prioritize family, protect our marriage, and live for the Lord for all to see.

After being encouraged by the words of Mrs. Mohler, we graciously accepted her invitation for dessert and caravaned to the President’s home. The house was quickly overflowing with women who gathered together over dessert and blessed each other with their conversation.

A quick look around the room, you would have seen women smiling, laughing, and talking together. Women were connecting with each other, just as Koinonia hopes to continue to do over the course of this upcoming year.

If you came on Tuesday night, thank you so much for joining us, hearing the vision, and gathering with the women of Southern and Boyce College. If you weren’t able to make it, we missed you and hope you’ll get involved in one of our Love Links groups and join us for Koinonia Christmas on November 1st at 7 pm in Heritage Hall.
