Book Review: The Pilgrim’s Progress

A few months ago one of our best friends read the classic christian book The Pilgrim’s Progress. He was constantly telling us what a good book it was. So, I thought I would add it to my list of books I’d like to read, I didn’t know when I was going to read it, but I knew I wanted to.

Then I found The Pilgrim’s Progress in modern English, I knew I had to read it! This book was full of color pictures that made the story come to life. There were also editor notes that provided more information and scripture references through the entire book.

I am so glad that I read this book. Every Christian needs to read this book. It truly was that amazing! It’s probably safe to assume many of you have read this book, but for those who haven’t I urge you to pick up a copy!

John Bunyan, the original author, shares the journey of Christian (The main character) on his way to the Celestial City in a way that makes the reader truly understand more their journey towards eternity. At times it is sad, other times it is happy. Sometimes you are resting, sometimes you are busy.

Of course, Christian runs into a few difficulties and also meets lots of people. Every person Christian meets or difficulty that he is met with can be compared similarly to our lives and interactions. This book has made me think a lot about my journey so far and some high and low moments in my own life.

I cannot believe that I just read this book, I wish I would have read it when I was newer to my faith. However, it was still powerful and life changing. This book will be on my bookshelf for a very long time and I think I will be rereading it often.

If you have never read this book, I would highly encourage you to pick up a copy!
